About me

Hello! I’m Frances Ross.

I am a member of Teaching Within 5, a programme run by Shades of Noir which is committed to social justice and anti-racism. Through this fantastic initiative, I will be teaching on BA User Experience Design at London College of Communication in 2021 as an Associate Lecturer. I look forward to learning about inclusive pedagogy and how best to put it into practice. I am a strong believer in the social value of creativity and the necessity for diverse thinking for creative problem solving.

I am currently seconding as an 0.6 Outreach Practitioner and 0.4 Outreach Administrator at Central Saint Martins for a 12 month stint, but previously I worked within Academic Registry as a Programme Administrator at Chelsea College of Arts. I studied BA Graphic Design, and I’ve just finished a MA in Arts and Cultural Management which I did part-time. Using UAL as a case study, I wrote my thesis on the role of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in preparing underrepresented students for the creative labour market. It offers a critical perspective on the structural inequalities found within the creative industries and the differing levels of privilege individuals inherit which exacerbates the disparities found in accessing desired work as a creative graduate. You can download a copy here if you were interested in reading it.

Looking forward to this new journey of learning and experiences.
